Fierce and favourite frontwomen. aka Girls do it better.

Some of my favourite bands feature either all girls or an awesome frontwoman. Apart from the obvious like Blondie, Courtney or Joan most of the bands and the girls that sing, screech and scream in them are far too underrated. Discovering new (or old ) bands is one of my favourite things to do, most of the following I dicovered in my teens and have loved ever since. Sure as hell beat growing up listening to bad chart shit. Still does.
Enjoy my collection.

7 Year Bitch
Frontwoman Selene Vigil has an AMAZING growl. Love this band.
Selene Vigil.

Babes In Toyland
Bruise Violet. That is all.

Lunachicks
Are fucking awesome. Theo Kogan is hands down one of the hottest frontwomen ever. Every album is my favourite- I just can't choose. I wish these guys got bigger than they did because they are just that good.

Dale Bozzio/ Missing Persons
Dale is a fox.

Nikki & the Corvettes
Song of choice: He's a mover.

Courtney Love/Hole
Needs no words. I don't care what people think of her- Coutney Love is fucking brilliant. I've always loved her and still do.

Bikini Kill
Didn't get into this band properly until a few years ago.
Love.

Kim Gordon/ Sonic Youth
Sonic Youth is a band I NEVER get sick of. Kim in Kool Thing <3

To be continued...

Vintage Christmas Pin Up

While I actually don't really like Christmas Day itself (a whole month of madness for one day?!) there are some things I LOVE about the festive season:
Christmas lights, the smell of a real Christmas tree, finding cute gifts for the people in my life who I adore, Christmas Decorations (l am OBSESSED with bird decorations), Elvis Christmas Carols, watching Home Alone, people who put reindeer antlers on their pets, and vintage pin ups!
There are so many cute pin ups by incredible artists: Elvgren, Bill Ward, Vargas, that I'm going to try and do a pin up a day until Christmas.
Here's my first one:

By Gil Elvgren.

Dom Perignon X Andy Warhol

Being somewhat of an Andy Warhol maniac I pretty much lost my shit when I saw this featured in the current copy of one of my favourite art magazines.
Inspired by Warhol's use of colour and his intent to challenge the world to see art differently (Brillo or Campbell's soup cans anyone?) Dom Perignon teamed up with the Andy Warhol Foundation and the Design Laboratory at Central St Martin's School of Art & Design in London to pay homage to one of the most important and influential artists of the Twentieth Century. (In my humble opinion anyway).
The result: looks amazing, worth it for the art on the box alone and kinda cool because there's a story to go with it, taken from Warhol's diary. (If you haven't read this- DO! I loved reading all of the good, and trivial details of his life)

“Went to the gallery where they were having a little exhibition of the glittery Shoes, and had to do interviews and pics for the German newspaper and then we had to go back to the hotel and be picked up by the “2,000” people - it’s a club of twenty guys who got together and they’re going to buy 2,000 bottles of Dom PĂ©rignon which they will put in a sealed room until the year 2,000 and then open it up and drink it and so the running joke is who will be around and who won’t…”

Kiss me quick!

Apart from the Ice Dance scene in Edward Scissorhands this is one of my favourite scenes from a film, everything about it is perfect. And I'm DEFINITELY not one for the romantic film crap either. Run of the mill Rom Coms or whatever they're called make my skin crawl.. they are sooo predictable. And lame.
Classics and good cinema however are different. The storytelling is done brilliantly.. and sure while I knew Holly and Paul were most likely going to end up together, the ending of the film was amazing. Yes I still cry for Cat everytime I watch it.

Here's some other notable screen <3:

Lola & Manni from Run Lola Run. Another favourite film. Probably my favourite scene(s) from the film. Who hasn't had a conversation like this before? I sure as hell have. I just didn't look as hot as Franka Potente while having it.

Holden & Alyssa from Chasing Amy. Again one of my favourite films ( I have quite a few). The scene where Holden (Ben Affleck) pours his heart out to Alyssa in the rain is awww!
Here's a decent link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWjEijoeQ0g&feature=related
If you haven't seen this film-do it. It's before Ben Affleck got lame and probably my favourite out of the Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy saga..
